Prepare Now for New Jobs in Ohio’s Natural Gas and Oil Industry

How many new energy-related jobs will be created in Ohio? Reports range from 20,000 to 200,000. A few months ago the Ohio Chamber of Commerce released a new study that predicts there will be 65,000 new jobs by 2014—that’s only about 18 months from now!

Anyone hoping to work in Ohio’s budding energy field will be pleased to know about a new document that identifies 75 different careers in the crude oil and natural gas industry. The document provides job descriptions and education requirements for both higher and entry level jobs.

This helpful document was created by the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP), a non-profit, statewide education and public outreach group. OOGEEP is now developing and will soon release a list of schools and colleges that offer high quality education and training programs for students seeking employment in the crude oil and natural gas industry.

If you are interested in job opportunities for yourself, or if you are helping youngsters prepare for future careers, you will want to study the Ohio Oil and Gas Careers chart below. We will also provide online access to the list of schools and colleges offering training programs as soon as it is released.

Since 1998, OOGEEP has positively impacted more than 2,500 Ohio teachers, 100,000 students and 850 emergency responders. OOGEEP has received numerous national, state and regional awards.
